JOHANNA IRIS COOMBS (nee MACHUGA) Quietly with family on May 31, 2007, at Riverview Health Centre, Joanne Coombs, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away at the age of 64 years. She leaves to cherish her memory her three daughters, Tamara (Mark) Kruk, Andrea (Gord) Funk, and Jennifer Coombs (Shawn Scarcello), all of Winnipeg, MB; one grandson Easton Kruk; niece Laura (Glen) Tait, and nephew Colin MacKay of Winnipeg, MB; mother-in-law Kathleen Coombs of Regina, SK, and brother-in-law Don Coombs (Jim Putz), also of Regina, SK. Left to remember many beautiful moments are numerous cousins and enduring friends. She was predeceased by her soul mate and husband, Barrie; parents, William and Anne Machuga; and sister Patricia MacKay. Joanne was born in Winnipeg on July 2, 1942. Joanne married her soul mate, the late Barrie Arthur Coombs, on August 30, 1975. They spent 22 happily married years together. Devoted and selfless in nature, she always put her family and friends first. Family time and traditions were her proudest moments. She influenced the next generation by raising her forever grateful children, teaching as a catechist for eight years, being a caregiver to Lauren, Madelaine, and Joshua, and finally to her grandson, Easton. She was an active and artistic soul who enjoyed gardening, walking wherever her feet could take her, and oil and watercolor painting. God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be so He put his arms around you and whispered, Come to Me With tearful eyes we watched you and saw you pass away and although we love you dearly we could not make you stay. A Golden heart stopped beating hard working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove us He only takes the best The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses, and supporting staff of ward 3E at Riverview; especially Dr. Loiselle, Helen, Marlene, and Holly; and Dr. Ralph Wong of CancerCare Manitoba. A prayer service will be held Sunday, June 3, 2007, at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, Winnipeg, MB. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated Monday, June 4, 2007, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church at 250 Jefferson Avenue, Winnipeg, MB, with Father Bohdan Lukie CSsR officiating. Interment to follow at Holy Family Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joanne's memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
